Britain’s Sexiest Hairstyle Revealed and it’s Short!

September 11, 2004 -- Get a Man. Get a Haircut! That’s the message from brand new women’s magazine, Hair Style & Beauty out in the shops this week.

And the haircut to have is not long, blonde tresses à la Jennifer Ellison but a seductive, flirty, over the eye, blonde crop that oozes style, sophistication and glamour - according to 61% of men that is.

The new magazine asked hairdressers across the country to nominate their sexiest styles and then tested the shortlist with over 500 male volunteers to assess the “oomph” factor.

The soft blonde crop won hands down with 61% of men saying that this style was sexiest because:
•    The fringe over one eye was flirty and naughty – 60%
•    Blondes are more fun – 22%

In the poll, men were also asked about women’s make-up and clothes. Forget red lips and dark eyes, men voted for the natural sun-kissed look.
•    28% of men surveyed said they preferred full natural looking lips
•    19% said that copper colours were definitely the sexiest when it came to make-up.

Salma Shah, Sex and Relationship Coach (1) says that the combination of blonde hair and a flirty fringe is bound to have every man trembling at the knees. She says: “This is a man-killer. Men like intrigue and enjoy the chase and the air of mystery created by the fringe will draw men to her. What is she hiding? How can he find out more about this sophisticated mysterious girl? She is offering him a challenge...if he dares to approach her.”

She continues: “Golden hair oozes glamour, sophistication and youth. Blonde hair makes women look young and healthy. Throughout evolution women with light hair have been presumed as being younger and often therefore more attractive to the opposite sex.”

The survey team tested a shortlist of three hairstyles and looks on men. Red hair came off worst with just 8% of men thinking redheads are sexy. And despite recent coverage that men prefer brunettes, long dark tresses appealed to just 31% of men surveyed. Surprisingly, men also voted for short hair over long. Just 11% of men thought girls should have long hair to appear sexy.

The three looks appear in the first issue of Hair Style & Beauty magazine on sale from Thursday 9th September. The magazine combines hair, beauty and fashion in a magazine dedicated to co-ordinating the perfect style and overall appearance.
