The award winning short story and short screenplay is put in motion. 'Yellow Bird' will be produced this coming summer.

February 13, 2004-- The original short story, written by Magie J. Lukas entitled, The Yellow Bird, won the Houston Writer's Short Story contest, and was published in the Roswell Literary review. The adapted Screenplay by Carol J. Brown went further on to win first place at the Telluride Film Festival and at the Moondance Film Festival 2002 for best short script.

Yellow Bird was a piece that both Margie and Carol had been writing and nurturing for some time, while Jessie who was searching madly for a wonderful and creative story; came across the screeplay 'Yellow Bird' on the Writers Screen Network, "and that is when I met Carol. We both knew that we wanted to work together and that Yellow Bird would be our first project."

Jessie, whose background was in Producing and Directing, was thrilled to have found a piece for two strongly defined characters. She says she was attracted to the script because, "it tackles the dangerous and inevitable tensions that erupt between a husband and wife living together unhappily."

A story of 2 elderly people, and one little yellow bird, on their slow decent of desperation. Underneath all of the symbolism and strong metaphors for human nature, this story is very emotional and relative to many incidents which can happen to anyone as they live everyday life. It will show the gritty realism and honesty that is apparent in many people’s psyches...

"This type of experimentation is what the spirit of film is all about. Not only does “Yellow Bird” allow for some remarkable and provocative story telling, strong visuals, and amazing characters, but also a beautiful score which can rival with the usual expectations."
